Here is the interview of Naomi Wong, 17-year-old photographer living in the UK and aspiring filmmaker.

TFPD : Where are you currently living and how is it shaping you ?
Naomi : I live in a small town in the north of England, one of those quiet towns where nothing really happens. It’s quite an industrial area its very grey and gloomy. I used to really dislike where I live but after sometime, like with many places; you end up feeling very comfortable with your surroundings. Its quite a charming place in a way and makes me feel at home. It doesn’t inspire me a lot but there are certain interesting parts around town.
TFPD : What’s your current project about ?
Naomi : I don’t really have a specific project in mind, I just shoot whenever I want to. My work is a mixture of captured people I’ve met/situations I’ve been in and things I have set up. I like to focus mainly on portraits and using light and colour within my work. They’re my favourite aspects of creating an image and the subject of people is always interesting. I’m hoping to put together a zine of my images from the ‘In Bloom’ series very soon and experiment more with different ways of shooting. I recently got suggested to make a stop motion video with my photos which I’ll really like to try sometime. I would love to collaborate with other photographers and visual artists in the future too.
TFPD : What is your dream camera/gear ?
Naomi : A Contax G2 and a Leica are my dream cameras.
TFPD : Any artists inspiring you at the moment ?
Naomi : Wong Kar-wai, Sofia Coppola, Ryan McGinley and Nan Goldin are always inspiring me and are some of my favourite directors and photographers. I have also recently came across Uta Barth whose photo series ‘…to draw with light’ I have drawn inspiration from for some of my recent images.
TFPD : Any plans for the rest of 2013?
Naomi : Hopefully get good enough grades to move to London and study filmmaking at university. I’ll like to shoot more as well and try out new things within my work. Maybe make a short film and travel a little.
TFPD : Latest musical discovery ?
Naomi : There hasn’t really been a recent band I’ve really liked, but for the past month I’ve been listening to a lot of The Rolling Stones, Nat King Cole and King Krule.
TFPD : Favorite food ?
Naomi : Pizza makes the world go round.
